Hemm żewġ sinjali differenti għal FARFETT IL-LEJL. L-ewwel sinjal isir bl-idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5, il-pala tħares ’il barra. Is-swaba’ l-kbar jistrieħu kontra xulxin waqt li s-swaba’ l-oħra jperpru ’l fuq u ’l isfel, ikkurvati, mingħajr ma jiċċaqlaq il-polz.
It-tieni sinjal magħmul minn żewġ partijiet: (jew i) L-ewwel isir is-sinjal għal FARFETT. Dan isir bl-idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5. Id-dirgħajn jissalbu u s-swaba’ l-kbar jistrieħu kontra xulxin waqt li s-swaba’ l-oħra jperpru bħall-ġwienaħ ta’ farfett. Fl-istess ħin l-idejn jogħlew djagonalment ’il fuq waqt li jżommu din il-forma. (jew ii) Imbagħad isir is-sinjal għal LEJL. L-idejn jinħallu minn ma’ xulxin u jieqfu dritti mill-minkeb ’il fuq. Imbagħad l-idejn jinżlu ’l isfel kontra xulxin biex jimteddu mal-livell tal-qadd.
Is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jew għal KBIR isir biż-żewġ idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ Ċ u jħarsu lejn xulxin f’linja vertikali jew djagonali. Id-distanza bejniethom tindika d-daqs tal-farfett il-lejl.
Għall-plural, l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ X u titpoġġa f’punti differenti fiż-żona tas-sinjali qisu hemmhekk qed jitqiegħdu ħafna friefet il-lejl. Inkella jista’ jintuża s-sinjal għal ĦAFNA wara s-sinjal għal FARFETT IL-LEJL.
Meta n-nom FARFETT IL-LEJL ikun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ moviment, l-id forma ta’ X tintuża bħala classifier u timxi skond l-azzjoni tal-verb.
There are two signs for BAT. The first sign is made with the hands in the 5 shape with palms facing outwards. The thumbs lean over each other and the fingers move up and down, curved, without any wrist movement.
The second sign is made up of two parts: (jew i) First, the sign for BUTTERFLY is made with the hands in the 5 shape with palms facing outwards. The hands are crossed over. The thumbs are crossed over to hold the butterfly shape whilst the fingers move lightly like the butterfly’s wings. At the same time, the hands move diagonally upwards in this crossed position. (jew ii) Then the sign for NIGHT is made. The hands are released but retain the 5 shape. They move out sideways to form two vertical lines. They then move crosswise down such that they lie at waist level with each hand close to the elbow opposite.
The signs for SMALL or BIG are made with both hands in a C shape. The palms face each other in a vertical or diagonal direction. The distance between the hands indicates the size of the bat.
For the plural, the hand takes the X shape and is placed at various places in the signing space as though many bats were being placed there. The sign for MANY may be used after the sign for BAT instead.
When the noun BAT is the subject of a verb of movement, the hand in the shape of X is used as a classifier and moves according to the action of the verb.
